I had the chance to see the top
underclassmen in the state of Missouri, Bradley Beal play in the
state playoffs. His Chaminade team took on a
solid CBC club for the right to advance further in the playoffs.
Let’s look at how the highly rated sophomore faired.
Illinois head coach Bruce Weber was on hand to see Beal
play. The Illini are recruiting Beal
extremely hard and he is one of their top priorities in the
Class of 2011.

Bradley Beal
SG Chaminade (MO) Class of 2011
Beal has a good frame with solid strength
for a sophomore and still has room on his frame to add more
strength. He definitely fits the athletic
shooting guard from the eyeball test. Beal
opened up the game with a nice find to a teammate in transition.
Then Beal showed off this perimeter shot. He
has a free and easy release on his shot and it has good overall
form. He showed that he can work well around
screens to get his shot off and used those screens to get the
little opening he needed to pull the trigger. The
super soph also showed the ability to create off the dribble
with an explosive hard first dribble to get by the defender.
In transition the guard used his excellent speed to get
points. He is also willing to make the right
pass and has a good passing feel for when and how to make the
correct pass. Beal played hard on defense and
had good mechanics. The first time I saw him
this was difficult to gauge because they played a lot of zone,
but he showed that he can be a plus defender at the next level.
By my count Beal had 33 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists,
and 1 block. To me he looks like a potential
5-Star top 15 player nationally in the Class of 2011.
From what I have been hearing Kansas, Illinois, and
Missouri are the front runners for the services of Beal.
