Olney White
Squirrel Classic
This new event brought
some big time talent to a small town. Here are some of the
top players.

Beas Hamga C
Decatur Christian (IL) Class of 2008 (Iowa)
This report on Hamga is compiled from reports from both his game
against DeMatha at the St. Louis Shootout and two games at the
Olney White Squirrel Classic. With Braswell out, it was
Hamga's time to dominate. He is really LONG. In St.
Louis he showed excellent footwork and great athleticism.
He is a Great shot blocker. When his team needed him to
take over at the end he did. Hamga got a HUGE tip back
dunk to win the game over #3 DeMatha. At the White
Squirrel Classic he was good, but not dominant. He got
deep post position and erased shots that came in the lane.
Overall Hamga is a raw athlete with GREAT upside. I think
he has NBA potential and is one of the top 30 players in the
Class of 2008.

Mac Koshwal PF Boys to Men (IL) Class of 2007 (DePaul)
Koshwal really surprised me with how good he was. Koshwal
is A LOT more athletic than I thought he was. He is a
power forward and not a center. Mac has a powerful and
physical body. He runs the floor great and is explosive in
transition. In the half court sets he tends to fade out to
the perimeter. He handles the ball well and is extremely
quick! Koshwal hits the boards real hard, getting a lot of
points off of tip backs and dunks. He will be moving up
into 5-Star status when the mid-season rankings come out.
At DePaul he will be a PF, but in the NBA he could be a combo
forward.

Leon Freeman SG Boys to Men (IL) Class of 2007
Freeman is one of the most highly sought after players remaining
in the nation. He is a GREAT athlete. He handles the
ball very well, even enough that he might be able to play some
point at the next level. Freeman is a skilled with the
ball and has a beautiful looking jump shot. The first game
it was not falling, but he has great rotation and form on his
shot. Sometimes he was to passive and content with
settling for his outside shot. When he did take it to the
hoop he was effective. Leon is a very active and willing
defender. Freeman is a top 75 recruit. He will be
moving into the new rankings.
****EXCLUSIVE**** I got a chance to talk to Leon and he
told me that his final 4 schools are Cincinnati, Illinois,
Michigan St., and DePaul. He also told me they are all
about even right now.

Alex Tyus PF Harmony Prep (OH) Class of 2007 (Florida)
Alex Tyus is a BIG TIME ATHLETE!!! He is a potential
McDonald's All-American this year and is headed to the Florida
Gators. Tyus is still extremely raw. He is quick,
has a good bounce, and is explosive in transition. Other
than that I was kind of disappointed. He did not dominate
like he can at this level. He shot needs a lot of work and
is not a go to scorer in the half court. Most of his
points came off put backs and dunks in transition. The
other thing that bothered me is that he did not rebound at a
high rate. He absolutely has NBA potential, but it is
going to take some work. Tyus will be moving from 5-Star
to 4-Star in our next rankings.

Josh Miller PG Harmony Prep (OH) Class of 2007 (Nebraska)
I LOVE THIS KID!!! Yea I know he is 20, and REAL
SMALL (5-7), but he can play. I have said that I am one of
his biggest fans before. He is a flashy, quick, athletic,
and fun to watch. "Cookie" does not mind going inside with
the big boys and gets in the lane at will. He is so much
fun to watch in transition. He breaks everyone over with
his crossover. Miller is a pass 1st PG with 3 point range
and quick hands on D. His size and age will hurt his
chances to make it to the NBA, but he has the skills to be an
impact player for Nebraska in the Big 12!
|
Brain Williams PF Harmony Prep (OH) Class of 2007 (Tennessee)
Williams was not impressive at all. Think a wider Sean May
with less skill. He does have nimble feet and a soft
touch, but that is about it. He is still over weight,
although he has lost a lot of weight. Williams looked slow
and was not a good athlete. He is a top 200 recruit, but
not an NBA prospect unless he continues to loose weight and
plays at a higher level.

Lavance Pennington SG
Genesis Select (MS) Class of 2008
This kid was on the B team. Why? I have no idea.
He is a EXPLOSIVE shooting guard. Pennington changes gears
fast, is quick, and has 3 point range on his shot. Watch
out for him. He is not a top 50 player, but is a guy to
keep an eye on. |
