The 2nd Annual White Squirrel Classic featured two of the top
point guards in the senior class along with a very intriguing
junior big man prospect.

Terrance Joyner PG Genesis Prep (MS) Class 2008 (Arkansas)
The Arkansas commit did what he does best in Olney. He
pushes the ball in the middle 50% of the court, showing
tremendous speed and ball handle in his voyage down to the other
end. He is a GREAT passer while on the interior both in
transition and in the half court. Joyner has a flare for
the passing game and at times can be very flashy. He finds
the open man consistently. Without a doubt he will be a
pass first point guard for the Razorbacks. He can get his
shot off fairly easily especially when using his quick pull up
jump shot. His shot didn't fall that consistently, but
shoots it nicely. I thought maybe he could get a little
more arc on his shot. I did find a couple of flaws in his
game. If the defense plays him tight and aggressively on
the perimeter he can be slowed down, but if he gets by you it is
going to be trouble. Another thing I found was that when
he did get into the interior and decided to put up a runner or
try to score he had problems and left several runners short.
The last thing was down the stretch he couldn't knock down both
free throws, a lot of the time just getting one of two.
When comparing Joyner to the other top PG, Terrell Holloway, at
this event Joyner CLEARLY proved he was the better player now
and prospect in the long run. Overall Joyner showed that
he is a legit SEC talent and a top 70 player in the Class of
2008.

Lavance Pennington SG Genesis Prep (MS) Class 2008
I really liked his game last year and he played well again this
year. The first word that comes to mind with Pennington is
EXPLOSIVE!!!! He is a FREAK of an athlete. The SG
contains a quick and explosive first step which compliments his
quick rise on his shot and has legit 3 point range. He is
a scorer and finisher. Also he showed on several occasions
that he can pass the ball. I believe he has the talent to
be a player with a case for the top 125 overall.
EXCLUSIVE: Lavance told me that some of the schools he is
looking at include Kentucky, UNLV, New Mexico St., and Northern
Illinois.

Terrell Holloway PG Harmony Prep (OH) Class 2008 (Indiana)
I do not think he is six feet that some list him at. He
has a strong compact body. Holloway started off the ball to
begin the game, but would move back to his true position of
point guard throughout the game. Offensively Holloway
showed that has a good perimeter shot hitting a couple of nice
shots. He was not afraid to go in amongst the trees
either. Obviously being a PG he needs to be a good passer.
The future floor general has a nice feel for the game and the flow of
the game.. Defensively he moves well laterally out on the
perimeter. Holloway got into foul problems which caused
him to miss key times in the game including much of the stretch.
I was just not that impressed to be honest. He was good in
stretches, but overall I believe he is a top 125 player.

Poston PF Harmony Prep (OH) Class 2008 (UIC)
Poston
is a thick, wide bodied physical player. He likes to bang
down low, but can also step out and hit the mid range shot.
The best asset of his game he showed was his shot blocking
ability. He can get off the floor for sure! Poston
is not the best free throw shooter. The UIC recruit is a
top 175 player in 2008.

Richard Anderson PF Milestone (MO) Class 2009
Anderson really impressed me. He is thick and strong.
The PF showed quick and aggressive post moves finishing with a
soft touch around the hoop. When he gets the ball in the
post he attacks the hoop. The junior was a monster on the
offensive glass, getting multiple second chance points.
Defensively Anderson showed a great shot blocking ability in
both blocking and altering multiple shots. A couple of
downers on Anderson's game were he did not run the floor that
well a lot of the time being the last one to cross half court.
He also made some dumb fouls including going for a steal out on
the perimeter after he already had two fouls already in the
first half. The player I would compare him to would be
Alabama power forward Richard Hendrix. Anderson deserves
to be a top 65 player in the Class of 2009. Illinois,
Missouri, and Indiana are hot on Anderson's trail. |
