Here is some of the latest recruiting news on the top prospects in the nation.

Eric Gordon to Indiana

Well at least it is over!  Eric Gordon is one of the most high profile recruits in the nation.  It was even higher when he was "flirting" with Indiana while still committed to Illinois.  In the end on Friday the 13th (especially for Illini fans) of October Gordon attended Indiana's midnight madness and committed to the Hoosiers.   This was a huge boost for the Hoosiers and a even bigger hit for the Fighting Illini.  Weber was really disappointed.  Who wouldn't be after losing the #4 player in the nation and the fact that he has been recruiting him since he was in eighth grade.  He was Illinois #1 target.  Well Gordon just adds to the list of top recruits considering Illinois and then choosing elsewhere.  This list includes Shaun Livingston to Duke in 2004, Julian Wright to Kansas in 2005, Jon Scheyer to Duke and Sherron Collins in 2006, and now Eric Gordon and possibly Derrick Rose in 2007.   For Indiana, they pick up a SUPERSTAR for one year before he turns pro.  This also opens the door that Derrick Rose might join him in Hoosier Nation.

Bill Walker to Kansas St.

Bob Huggins has landed a second 5-Star top 7 recruit.  After getting a commitment from power forward Michael Beasley, Kansas St. has now gotten Bill Walker.  Walker is the #3 player in the Class of 2007.  He was ruled ineligible for the  upcoming this upcoming season at North College Hill High School by the OHSAA.  So instead of setting out this season and not playing at all, Walker has got "creative."  Just like the creativity in his world famous dunks Walker has pulled out something that no one expected.   Walker has graduated early from North College Hill High School in Ohio and will be enrolling at Kansas St.  He will most likely join the Wildcats for games in January.  If he makes the easy transition that most expect him to, he should average 18 and 8 right off the bat.  With this scenario he will enter the 2007 NBA Draft and be a top 10 pick.  Walker and Beasley together in 2007-2008 would be unbelievable, but Walker will be in the NBA by then.

Anthony Randolph to LSU

Randolph, #8 in the Class of 2007, was pretty quiet on his recruitment for the longest time.  When it came down to decision time it was LSU and Texas.  Texas was the hometown favorite, but LSU won out in the end.  Randolph will make a Tyrus Thomas type impact when he plays for the Tigers.  He will be the MAN from the minute he steps on campus with Glen Davis likely leaving for the NBA after this season.

JJ Hickson to NC State

Sidney Lowe gets his signature recruit.  JJ Hickson, #10 in Class of 2007, has committed to the Wolfpack.  NC St. beat out favorites Florida, Georgetown, Kentucky, and Tennessee for Hickson.  Hickson had a great summer, which elevated him into the top 10 overall and the #3 could make the "Big  7" (Mayo, Love, Walker, Gordon, Rose, Singler, and Beasley) the Big 8!

DePaul lands Tucker and Koshwal

DePaul has picked up two HUGE verbal commitments.   Darquavis Tucker, a 5-Star recruit and #23 overall, committed to the Blue Demons over Illinois and Louisville.  This is the biggest commit to DePaul since they got a commitment from Dorell Wright, who never attended college instead opting for the NBA.  They also picked up Mac Koshwal, the top big man in the state of Illinois.  Koshwall picked DePaul over Illinois, Louisville, Tennessee, and LSU.

DeAndre Jordan to Texas A&M

Christian Life Center high school Center DeAndre Jordan has said he is going to be an Aggie.  Jordan is the #9 player in the Class of 2007 and #1
at the Center position.  Jordan is the headliner in a five man class that has A&M in the top 25 Recruiting Classes of 2007.  He is a potential NBA draftee in 2008.

Kyle Singler to Announce on Friday

Kyle Singler has announced that he will be holding a press conference Friday to announce his college choice.  The three finalists are Kansas, Arizona, and the prohibited favorite Duke.  All indications are that he will pick the Blue Devils.  Singler is the #6 player in the senior class.  He is a versatile forward from South Medford High School in Oregon.  If Singler picks Duke they will be in the mix for a recruiting national championship with Singler (#6), Taylor King (#18), and Nolan Smith (#28).  More to come on this after the announcement.

Derrick Rose to Visit Illinois Friday

It was shocking when Derrick Rose, #5 in '07, made a list of 5 schools and did not list Illinois.  Well, Weber might be back in the door.  Rose will take an unofficial visit to an Illinois scrimmage on Friday night with his brother Reggie.  I still think he will end up at Memphis, but Illinois and Indiana are still in consideration.  This could go one of two ways for Illinois.  If they get Rose, it will be the HUGE lift they need after losing Eric Gordon.  The other way it could go is that they think they have a shot, might be considered the favorite going into signing day, then he picks Memphis or even worse Indiana.  He will choose around National Signing Day (November 8th).
